MLB 2K9 Review

I want to do a review of a game I have been playing since it came out, and I have people who would like to know more about it.

Cover Athlete- Tim Lincecum is a god amongst men. Great choice by 2K.

Hitting- The hitting is very easy to do. It uses the right stick and you pull back to load up and then you simply push it forward. I'm pretty sure that you can aim your shot as well, i.e., go with the pitch. Some games I do really well hitting and others not so much, but hey, that's real.

Pitching- The pitching is a little different from last year's and years past, this was a change for the better. It's easier to throw a lot of the pitches, like the cut fastball and a 2-seamer. Plus, you don't give up a homer everytime you throw the down and away slider on the higher difficulties like you did in the games of the past. The stamina of pitchers seems to be a little more true-to-life as well, you don't see pitchers dying in the third inning as you did last year.

Fielding- The fielding is...a little shaky I guess. I, for the most part, have no problems but every now and again, I'll run my outfielder over to get a fly ball and he'll just stand there and let it drop. This usually happens when the bases our loaded and I have 2 outs and I need the out to keep my lead. That's just my luck, but I have no other choice than to quit out, because that's awful. There have been a few other times when I fielded a routine grounder, threw to first, and presumed that he was out. Then, I realize he's still on first and wasn't out for whatever reason.

Graphics- I really like the way the game looks. The jerseys are pretty nice looking, other than the Brewers Friday night home game retro jerseys. They are completely wrong. Player models are solid, but they don't have a model for everyone.

Overall- The game overall is pretty good, I would say it's worth it. Especially for baseball fans with an Xbox 360, because it's our only option. Outside of the B.S. that occurs every now and then with fielding it's very good. I'll give it a 4 out of 5.
